March 2016 Income/Expense Report

Hey guys! You’re here because you’ve signed up to receive our monthly income & expenses reports.

The primary goal of these income reports is to give you an idea of how we manage our online endeavours, and to give you an indication of how much it costs to live and travel in the countries that we do. We figured they will also be a great motivator for us to keep striving towards bigger numbers in terms of income at the end of every month.

If you’re new to the blog, you’ll see that our main source of income is our content creation agency that we built-up from scratch back in late 2012. You can read more about how we make money online here.

Anyway, let’s get down to business…

The report below is a breakdown of our total income for the month of March 2016 as well as a rundown of our expenses and it also states the profit or loss figure after all is said and done.

If you’d like to see our past Income reports then head on over here to check them out!

Comments:

Greetings from Athens folks. We currently living here for the past few weeks doing a house-sit. We’ve another 10 or so days left before we’ll be on our way again.

This months report details our income and expenses from travelling in Turkey and Greece.

INCOME

€8,122.10 in total income for this month.

That figure is up by about €800 on last months total.

Nothing much to report on this month. Business was steady and that’s the way we like it.

Last month I mentioned that we lost our single biggest paying client, so we’ve been figuring out the best approach to try and fill that void going forwards.

We had a few bigger than normal orders from our regular clients in March, which bumped up our numbers slightly.

EXPENSES

We spent €6,412.35 this month.

This was a decent chunk less than last months spending by about €1,300.

Our writing team take the lions share of that figure with just over €4,000.

One reader emailed us after last months report to ask why we don’t consider doing some of the writing ourselves, in order to reduce our writer fees.

The answer to this question is that we don’t have the time to spend writing content outside of our own blog. We made the decision a long time ago to operate an outsourced service model which would leave us as “project managers” basically.

Here’s a few notes about some of the expenses throughout the month:

  • Dinner and tour entrance costs for a week long tour from Istanbul to Antalya €200
  • Return flight for Florence from Athens to Dublin €200
  • Virtual assistant work on our website and light research tasks €185
  • Tech team to fix bits and pieces on our website €116.50

Positive Month

We had a profit of +€1,709.75 at the end of the month, which is fantastic as it’s our first healthy month of 2016.

Forecast

We figure at this stage that April should be a similar month in terms of income and expenses. We won’t be on the move again until the 22nd April so we’ll still be cooking our own food at the apartment and living rent free until then with the house-sit.
