The last 3 months have flown by. Today marks the 100th day since we left for Thailand on a one way ticket. 100 days in Thailand, but it actually feels like it’s been way less than that.
We haven’t exactly done much travelling or that in those 100 days as we’ve been steadily building up our online projects, and focusing on those.
We knew that moving to Phuket and renting an apartment for 3 months would give us that base in order to settle in a adjust to our new surroundings.
So far things have been working out very well on all fronts.
We’ve met some pretty cool people and made some useful contacts which will come in handy down the line.
As well as meeting new people, we’ve also seen some pretty cool sights and experienced some unique events.
The chinese vegetarian festival springs to mind as one of these events. For anyone that hasn’t heard of this festival, then look it up!
I’ve included a few photos from the festival here(people piercing their cheeks with all sorts of objects), but I will be posting an in-depth blog about it later on.
It was definitely the most freakish and bizarre ceremony/festival that we’ve ever witnessed bar none.
Things are constantly changing, and new projects are on the horizon as well as a load of exciting destinations.
The cool thing about working from a laptop is that we don’t’ have to stay in the one spot for any longer than we want.
As long as we have an internet connection then we are good to go.
In the past week we’ve booked our flights up to Chiang Mai, for the end of November.
We will stay there for about a month before we decide where we want to go next.
More than likely we travel through Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia from January to April.
Back in 2011, we were meant to travel to these countries but ended up having to return home half way through our trip.
So we definitely can’t miss out on them this time around.
Vietnam is one of the countries that I’ve always wanted to visit so I’m not going to let anything come in the way this time bad back or no bad back.
We also just booked our flights to Barcelona and Lanzarote from there, where we will stay for 3 days in Barcelona and a week in Lanzarote for a mates wedding where I’m a groomsman.
After Lanzarote we fly back home to Ireland where we will stay for 6 weeks.
Then it’s the big one – We’ve booked a one way flights to Rio de Janerio, Brazil at the end of May to coincide with the World Cup!!
This will be a dream come true, and we’ve also applied for group stage tickets to go watch a game. Even if we’re not successful, I’m pretty sure we’d be able to bag tickets out there.
We plan to stay in Brazil for the world cup month and the hit a few South American countries.
It’s all happening really fast, but we’ve got to make the most of it while we are in the position to see all these amazing countries.
Enjoy the photos and if you like you can check out and “like” and “share” the NextStopWhoKnows facebook page, where I will be updating it regularly with photos and comments.
Love seeing all your adventures!
Hey Liz,
It’s good to have plans for sure. Keeps the mind active and all that ๐ Hopefully you’ll make it over this direction? Don’t worry about those insects either….they’re all edible ๐
Exciting plans! Hopefully Chiang Mai works out well for you guys; it seems like the perfect digital nomad hangout!
Thanks Sam. Yeah Chiang Mai definitely seems to be the entrepreneurial hotspot in Thailand, along with Bangkok. Phuket is nice and all that, but it’s 100% geared towards nothing buy tourists, which can get a little repetitive.
Well done guys who knows we might bump into you soon! One way tickets are booked for 5 Dec destination Bangkok. Not sure if we are heading for Chiang Mai or the islands around Koh Chang, going to try to chill for first month or so lol. Thanks for the inspiration – cheers for now
That’s great to hear Martin. The one way tickets are becoming more popular lately it seems. A few others are doing like wise. The time is ripe nowadays with the internet to build up something of your own and see how it goes.
Thailand is a great place to get based as well. ๐
