Jumping On A Plane With A One Way Ticket

Greetings from Thailand folks! It feels amazing to finally get back here after a two year absence! Jumping on a plane with a one way ticket rocks!

Bangkok To Phuket

We have just traveled down to Phuket from Bangkok, after spending three days there. Bangkok was a cool experience again, but it was highlighted by arranging to meet up with two Irish travel bloggers/entrepreneurs – Johnny Ward and Niall Doherty.

Johnny Ward, Carlo Cretaro, Niall Doherty

These chaps are two of the most interesting guys I’ve met. About a year and a half ago, I started following both their blogs. Johnny will be travelling to his 100th country next month, while Niall is currently two years on the road – travelling without flying!

Listening to these guys talk about life on the road and creating a digital lifestyle for themselves was inspiring to say the least.

Jumping on a Plane

So, jumping on a plane with no return date in mind was an exhilarating experience for both Florence and myself. It was a little unnerving at the time when we were booking our flights, but as time went on and the online business started to take shape, then it wasn’t so bad.

The fear of uncertainty can be a strong feeling, but the best way to combat that is to get stuck in with different projects. That way, you’re not sitting around and waiting for things to fall into your lap.

I’m currently training Florence up on a few online techniques which will stand to us down the line hopefully. She’s fairly tech savvy(no option really with a geek for a boyfriend I suppose), so it’s a pretty smooth transition.

She’s starting to realize just how valuable a device the laptop has turned out to be. The “money machines” as I like to call the laptops has definitely opened a lot of doors for us in the past year.

We are spending as much time as we can building up the freelance writing side of things as well as a few other projects that are in the mix.

So far, the experience of moving away to a foreign country with a willingness to learn new things and adapt to a new way of life has been totally positive and definitely worth the long time it took to fully implement.

We have to soon look for somewhere to rent an apartment/house, as we want to have a solid base for a few months so that we can comfortably concentrate on our online work. It will also give us the chance to fully acclimatize to our new surroundings.

Where To Take NextStopWhoKnows

I’m also at a cross roads as to where I want to take my blog going forward. I’ve always realized that apart from family and a few friends here and there, no one else is bothered reading another typical personal travel blog. Things like “we went shopping here today, and we did this and that” don’t provide much value to readers, and it certainly doesn’t give them any reason to come back to NextStopWhoKnows.

I think I need to go down the road of providing more value type posts. There will always be personal stories coming from me, but I’ve got to notch it up a little in order to become more visible in the blogosphere πŸ™‚

If anyone has any suggestions about the blog then drop me a line or comment below and I’ll get back to you. I’ve been getting a few nice emails from ye the past couple of weeks asking about the whole moving abroad thing, so I’d be happy to help out in any way I can.
